Q: Security alarm?
I've just moved in a new town home. The main door is not secure because there are windows around it.I want some affordable security system..... is any available in home depot or any other place.
Thanks
A: You can systems and install them but you will only have an alarm. If you go with one of the companies you will have a central station to monitor you home. Now for me because I live a very safe place I wouldn't but either one. Have you thought of just putting in tempered glass that is much harder to break in the windows?
If you live someplace that makes you feel unsafe how about a dog? Cheap to feed and gives lots of love.
Q: How do you become a certified security alarm technician?
I am interested in working with security systems, but I am not sure if I need to take courses or go to school. I hear there is a good amount of money in this profession. If anyone who has worked in a similar field, please help me with how to get started, I can't find a alarm technician job that does not require experience. Please help.
A: I work for a security integrator in the North East US. That being said I do not work, or gain anything from any websites of companies listed below.
My role in my company has changed over the five years, but I have been active in almost all areas of operations with my current company. Currently I am the Engineering Supervisor heading up system pricing and design so my knowledge point may differ from guys who work in the field.
First you must realize that many companies run differently. Some work with residential and other only work commercial. Some specialize in certain "fields" of the security alarm profession. The four major "fields" that are in the profession are: Intrusion/Burglar Alarm, Access Control, CCTV (Cameras), and Fire Alarm systems. There are many other system you maybe asked to work on. Depending on the company you may only work on one or two systems types. Other companies may call on you to work any system they provide.
Many of the techs we currently have never worked in the industry before being hired. Many companies, like mine, don't always advertise for entry level techs, but are always willing to interview interested canidates. This is because training someone "in house" can benefit both parties. You get training and teh company gets a tech who thinks like the company. Some experienced techs have a hard time switching companies since the products and philosphies differ. A new to the industry tech can quickly succeed since they have no prior knowledge.
The most successful "green" canidates have had expereince in PCs, networks, construction, or other low voltage systems (Like telephones). Having no experience with tools is usually a hard sell. The best way to get your foot in the door is to do as much learning before hand as possible.
Most techincal schools have EST (Electronic Systems Technician) training. Also since the industry is becoming more IP based look into computer network training.
Here are some organizations that deal with training and certifing those in the security alarm field:
Security Industry Association: http://www.siaonline.org/
National Systems Contractors Association: http://www.nsca.org/
National Training Center: http://www.nationaltrainingcenter.net/main.xml
National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies: http://www.nicet.org/
This organization focus more on those in the field already, but can give some insight into the backgrounds of the industry.
Q: will our security alarm work if the telephone wire is cut?
If I install a security alarm in my house, can't a burglar just cut the wire to my phone outside to disarm it?
A: It will not disarm the alarm per se, but it will prevent it from calling the monitoring center, this will not, however, prevent the alarm from going off, and those alarms are pretty freaking loud, and unless you live out in the middle of nowhere, the neighbors are sure to hear it, and if the alarm system doesn't have a loudspeaker horn, the buzzers can be enough to have that "nails on a chalkboard" sound to it, try to steal when hearing that
Not to mention, it depends where you live, who built the house, and what the homeowner chooses to do (later on down the road), but while some TNI boxes (Telephone Network Interface) may be outside in a place where it can easily be cut, some houses have the TNI installed in their garages or basements, and the main line is buried until it gets to the pole or or box (that is unless it is brought from a pole to a roof conduit, which isn't the case for most houses), so the person breaking in would have to run to the garage or basement (if they didn't already go through the garage), and cut the phone line while the alarm is going off, and it would be too late anyway, the alarm system would of already called the monitoring center and the police would already be on their way, so the likeliness that somebody would cut the line is rare
Q: What is the difference between a Home Security Alarm & a Pool Door Alarm?
If you have a built in pool in your backyard & a door that enters into the backyard then explain how the difference between a home security system & a pool door alarm operate in order to provide protection from a child entering into the area? Need answer to major dispute.
A: The only difference would be is that the pool door would have a Reed switch on it (otherwise known as a mag, which is a magnet that when it's not connected it would signal to a control room or to a mobile phone) and the home alarm system would have a series of zones with different types of alarms (PIR, MAG's, etc) If it's monitored it probably means that the pool door would signal as a higher priority than a movement sensor. I'm assuming another difference would be that the Pool door would be silent, whereas the house alarms would have a strobe and siren. They are pretty much the same thing though, it just depends on whether your house alarms are monitored or not - if they aren't the difference would be that the pool door would definitely be monitored otherwise it would serve little purpose.
On top of that - the pool door alarm would be armed 24 hrs - unless disarmed by a master code for use of the pool. The house alarms would be turned on and off all the time.
Q: Where can I get a dependable security alarm for the hearing impaired?
I'm looking for an security alarm (home detection system) for some older family members of mine, being deaf/hearing impaired. If anyone has any advice on already having one of these or any truly useful information, please let me know.
thank you for your time.
A: This is what you need - attaches to an already existing alarm system. http://www.harriscomm.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=19058
Q: I have 2002 Ford Explorer with factory security/alarm. Can I get remote start installed as well?
My Explorer has factory anti-theft and security alarm. I would like to have a remote start on this vehicle for cold weather season. Can this be done and does it have to be a remote starter system from Ford. Manual states "no after-market" remote starts or problems will arise; that I am to have only Ford remote starter installed at a dealership. Since its relatively expensive, I'd like to have it done correctly the first time so everything works. Thanks!
A: I do not have a ford...i have an infiniti FX 35 and i got a remote start installed for a relatively cheap price...and it wasn't in a infiniti factory. They can do it relatively easily without any problems and your security won't be bypassed at all. just make sure you go to a trusty mechanic or body shop which every supplies the gear and would install it for you.

A: I would suggest looking into a franchise opportunity. While I don't know anything about this company (so I'm not endorsing it), here's one option:

Q: Where is the security alarm located on a 2001 Monte Carlo?
My security light is on, and I have checked the battery, it's fully charged. When I turn the key over the lights come on, but the car will not start. Sometimes the radio will come on, and other times it will read LOCKED. I thought if I disarmed the alarm that it may get my car to start. Any thoughts?
A: You will have to call a dealer to get the code to unlock your radio...it probably locked up because you disconnected or ran down the battery... I would call up a G.M. dealer and ask a service rep what you can do to unlock the radio... that will fix it

Q: The security alarm on a parked car goes off and produces a frequency of 1440 Hz. The speed of sound is 343 m/s
The security alarm on a parked car goes off and produces a frequency of 1440 Hz. The speed of sound is 343 m/s. As you drive toward this parked car, pass it, and drive away, you observe the frequency to change by 164 Hz. At what speed are you driving?
A: Im just hoping for the neighbors sake that that stupid alarm doesnt go off in the middle of the night and wake up he whole freakin neighborhood.
As if it keeps the car safe HA
Q: When your merchandise sets off a security alarm at a store what are you supposed to do?
If you pay for merchandise and they don't deactivate security tags; what are you required to do. I think if you pay them your contract with them is fulfilled. Once I bought something at Radio Shack and no alarms went off until I left Walgreen's. Every head in the store snapped around to look at me, it was embarrasing. I have seen some footage where peoples progress was stopped by security. I am not certain that this was not fiction though. Once you make a valid purchase, I think your obligation to the merchant is over. Theirs is just begining. They owe you satisfaction guaranteed, maybe other guarantee's explicit or implied. You do not owe them anything. Transaction over. You could take the merchandise to the nearest dumpster and throw it away. So why do the think they can (arrest?) you?
A: It's happen to me a few time, and just once I'd like to take off running to my truck and let them tackle me, push me to the ground force me back to the store, just so I could sue them. After all I paid for the goods and I am under no obligation to stop, because they didn't do their job, and let them check my receipt to prove I paid for it.
Yes, I understand about shrinkage, and that stores need to do something to stop it, but I think they are leaving themselves open to a bunch of law suits. And not even by the way I described. Imagine someone bought something, the store forgot or the machine malfunctioned, the customer starts to leave. the alarm goes off, they decide not to stop, after all they paid for everything so it couldn't be them who set the alarm off. The store security runs after them forces them back into the store. They can't leave because security won't let them. Now security searches them and finds nothing. Everything the person has, is paid for, doesn't that leave the store open to a law suit? Think about it. Even if it doesn't, the person sues, it would be cheaper to settle for 5k to 10k just to keep it out of court.
Something to think about.
Anyway just stop let the nice lady check and you'll be on your way.
Q: How can I start fire and security alarm business in Nigeria. Business to include CCTV, ACCESS CONTROL ETC?
The security business to include CCTV SUIVELLANCE, ACCESS CONTROL, INTRUTION DETECTION AND FIRE ALARM DETECTION
A: Approach an existing manufactureer and franchise the business into Nigeria, then you will have all the support and recognition of the established business. Like wormald. Good luck.
Q: Can someone tell me if there is a difference in a Security Alarm and a Intrusion Alarm? ?
I am asking b.c I am making a brochure and the company I worked for previous told me that we couldn't put security alarm b.c they aren't monitored. Now the new company is putting security alarm and I am saying we need to put intrusion alarm. So I just need to know does it matter what we put?
A: Weird. A security alarm I would take as a general or random alarm, and intrusion alarm is taken as a door alarm (door contact) in our company. Now unless they said security alarm system, then I would just take it as a security system...
Q: I'm not sure if the security alarm on my 2002 Honda accord is functioning?
When I use the keyless entry lock, all the door locks go down but the lights don't flash at all, there is no "beep", and the security light near the drivers door next to the lock dose not blink, light up or anything to indicate it is working. To test if it was alarmed, I left the drivers window down, locked the car with the remote (like before) and then unlocked the door by pulling up the lock and then opened the door. No alarm sounded. When I have the car locked with the keyless entry and use it again to un-lock the car, the locks go up, the cabin lights come on and all exterior lights flash twice. Which seems like normal disarming. HELP PLEASE! I've only had the car less than a week and it's my first Honda.
A: you can take it to the dealer and have them check it out. i think they well do it for free im not sure
